FREDERICK, Md. – With the release of the All-MAC Commonwealth postseason awards, it was announced that
Ty Broughton (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington),
AJ Haines (Arlington, Va./Bishop O'Connell), and
Jack Patterson (Boyds, Md./Northwest) each earned a spot on the All-Conference team, being named to the First Team, Second Team, and Honorable Mention respectively.
Broughton, a junior, came into his own this season, leading the team with a .376 batting average, 30 RBIs, and .479 OB%. The catcher is the only player on the team to play in all 40 games this season, slotting in as the designated hitter on his days off from behind the dish. This marks Broughton's first appearance on the All-Conference list, and with one more year to play, he looks to be a force on both sides of the ball next year.
Haines gets nominated to the All-Conference Second Team in his first full year at the program, accumulating a .324 batting average and 13 doubles, more than twice as many as the next-most. The infielder also racked up a .520 slugging percentage to go with his team-leading four home runs as he racked up 77 total bases.
Rounding the All-Conference nominees is
Jack Patterson (Boyds, Md./Northwest), who cracks the list for the first time in his final collegiate season. The outfielder had the best season of his career this year, hitting .288 with four triples en route to an .816 OPS while also making great plays in the outfield with 100 putouts.
Although the Blazers fell short of the playoffs in head coach
Mike Victory's first year at the helm, the future is bright with developing young stars and a good incoming recruiting class.
