Mandy graduated with a double major in English and communication arts and a minor in writing. While at Hood she was a standout three-sport athlete participating in volleyball, basketball and softball. Mandy served as captain of both the basketball and volleyball teams. She was named to the Athletic Women’s Colleges Conference All-Conference Team six times and was the AWCC Most Outstanding Scholar Athlete for 2001-2002. Her career numbers in kills, digs and blocks rank among the top five in program history. She also ranks second all-time in scoring in basketball. Mandy currently works in human resources for the Social Security Administration, specializing in career development. Mandy has shared her passion for sports by coaching at both the high school and recreational level. She shares this honor with her son Ryan, husband Steve and parents Jim and Brenda South.
