Hood College

Halfen was a three-sport student-athlete as a member of the field hockey, swimming and lacrosse programs. In 1987, she was the co-captain of the field hockey team and represented the Blazers as a goalie at the South Eastern Field Hockey Tournament. In 1986, she played goal for the Blazer team that advanced to the championship game of the Chesapeake Women's Athletic Conference. That same year, the Blazers were third in the Baltimore College Tournament, falling to the University of Maryland-Baltimore County
