Hood College

Susie graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in biology in 1972. She was very involved within the Hood community as a member of both Beta Beta Beta and the student government association. She also served as recreation association treasurer (1970) and president (1971), Smith Hall’s treasurer in 1971 and was E.C. Coordinator. In addition, she was recognized for her scholastic prowess at Hood by being inducted into both Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities and the Mortar Board. A butterflyer and backstroker, she set a school record of 34.4 in the 50-yard backstroke and was willing to contribute to any event. She swam the 50 butterfly, the 100 individual medley, the 200 freestyle and on both the 200 freestyle and medley relay teams at the Woman’s Intercollegiate National Swimming Championship at Illinois State University.
