Kathie Jackovitz Harrington played basketball and lacrosse at Hood and contributed best was as a leader and as a dependable teammate.

As a basketball player, Kathie was one of the taller players on the Hood teams; she was a very hardworking player who game after game scored in double digits. She had strong rebounding skills at both ends of the court and contributed to defense through hustle and aggressive play. She showed leadership skills and was willing to spread the ball around as she understood the value of teamwork and strategies of the game. During a very successful year in 1979, the team went on to the Gallaudet Invitational Tournament and brought back the winning trophy.

Kathie was captain of the lacrosse team and during a time when Hood was finding their own way with a new women’s lacrosse program. She had speed, agility; the ability to catch and throw and was able to hustle after loose balls on the ground to keep the play going and make opportunities happen on the field. The 1979 team had the first victory by a Hood lacrosse team in over four years; and was over the nationally ranked Georgetown Hoyas. The team went on to finish with a winning record of 4-3.

Kathie earned her bachelor of science from Hood in 1979 and went on to receive her masters of science from Cornell University in 1982.  Kathie continues to give back to her alma mater as a loyal donor for the past 35 years and as a member of Hood College Board of Associates.
