A member of the honors program at Hood, Danielle Sgro graduated magna cum laude in 2009 with a degree in political science and minors in history and literature. She later graduated from Rutgers School of Law and is a trial attorney with the United States Department of Justice.
Sgro as a member of both the cross country and track and field programs at Hood, and was named Hood's Most Outstanding Athlete as a senior. On the track, she still holds the school records in the 10,000-meter run (41:24.23), the 3,000 (11:15.76) and the marathon (3:38.16.10). When she graduated, Sgro also held the top mark in the 5,000, which stood until 2014. In 2008, Sgro earned second team All-Capital Athletic Conference in the 10,000. On the cross country course, she earned All-CAC Second Team as both a junior and a senior. In 2006, Sgro set the school's cross country 6,000-meter record (23:43), which she held for seven years. A Dean's List student, she earned CAC All-Academic every semester and was a two-time CAC Runner of the Week.Â
Sgro also swam as a freshman and earned All-Atlantic Women's Collegiate Conference Second Team in the 1,000-yard freestyle and was an All-AWCC Honorable Mention in two other events.Â
