Hood College

Kathryn and Charlie, a former long-time Hood College trustee, have been an important part of Hood athletics for many years and have warmed the hearts of athletes and coaches. As a former player explained in her nomination, “In the years I played field hockey and lacrosse I think of few home games where Kathryn and Charlie were not there cheering us on. I cannot describe how important it was to have such ardent supporters among the Hood College trustees and how much it meant to me and my teammates.” Through their leadership, support and presence in the stands, Kathryn and Charlie have created a lasting legacy at Hood College and within Blazer athletics. Another nominator summed up the impact they have had on Hood athletics: “Kathryn and Charlie have done more for Hood athletics than any two people I know. Hood is lucky to have them as part of their family.” Charlie served on the board of trustees from 1991 to 2004 and was named trustee emeritus. Kathryn and Charlie were awarded honorary doctorates in August 2005 in honor of their service to the Hood and greater Frederick community.
