Jamie Bussey was a 2008 graduate of Hood College after completing a double major in English and communications.

She excelled as a two-sport athlete at Hood, playing volleyball for four years and softball for three. A libero for the volleyball team, she finished her career ranked second all-time in digs and sixth in games played. She also set the record for digs in a single game. As a senior, she was named to the 2007 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District II Third Team in volleyball, an award she also won twice in softball. Also a utility player on Hood's softball team, Bussey was named to the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Atlantic First Team in addition to being named a member of the All-AWCC second team her freshman and sophomore years.

Off the court, Bussey was a member of the Dean's List and was honored with the Blue and Grey Editorial Award, presented for the best editorial writing appearing in Blue & Grey Today as a senior. Bussey was also bestowed the George E. Randall Award, presented to a junior or senior who has demonstrated excellence in journalism or writing, has worked on student publications and has maintained a strong grade point average.
